LoadingRead contracts and local-content files—not a mining licence.
Online only

Extractives governance fails in the annex nobody reads: a local-content report that counts catering as transformation, a grievance log that never reaches the district, a royalty figure that cannot be reconciled. This programme starts with those documents. You will interrogate a contract summary, map a benefit-sharing process, and write a community note that does not pretend you hold an engineering stamp. African Future University centres host communities and subnational governments because capital ESG slides hide the constraint set. Digital transparency portals are examined for what they omit when connectivity is poor. AfCFTA appears only as procurement and services paperwork, not as a secretariat job. The award is academic. It is not a mining licence, not PE/CEng, and not employment by any oil or minerals firm. It is for officers who must keep a local-content file honest when the haul road is the only politics that matters. You will compare a national local-content report with a village grievance log that never reached the district. Identity-checked exams use public or anonymised texts. No mining licence and no company secondment are implied. Study is tuition-free online aside from the examination fee.
Thirty-six credits: contracts and fiscal terms as texts, local content and procurement, community governance, and a public-file capstone. Identity-checked exams. No subsurface licence is implied.

Modules are assessed through a published mix of coursework, applied projects, and examinations. Exam windows are announced in advance so students in other time zones are not forced into overnight sittings. Alternative arrangements are available where documented.
The published duration is 18 months. Teaching language: English + French assessment options. Actual time-to-complete depends on mode and any recognised prior learning.
This is a fully online award. You study from your country. No student visa and no campus relocation are required.
Degree tuition for this award is published as £0 / tuition-free on the online pathway. Examination or administrative fees may apply at checkout — never an annual tuition invoice. Check the Fees page for any extras.
Requirements are grouped on this page (academic, English, documents). Equivalent qualifications are considered. English may be waived after prior English-medium study.
Assessment is typically a mix of coursework, projects, and examinations. Doctoral awards include a thesis or dissertation and an oral examination. Details sit in the programme specification and module outlines.
Recognition of the award for local employment, professional licence, or ministry attestation is decided by your employer or regulator. African Future University publishes verification pages for certificates. We do not claim automatic equivalence in every country.
