You will model a PAYG book, design a service loop, and write a customer-protection note a regulator can read—without stamping drawings as a professional engineer. African Future University treats off-grid energy as a rural digital-finance and logistics problem as much as a hardware problem. Mini-grids appear as customer relations, theft, and community tariffs, not as a lab course in inverter design. AfCFTA-era appliance trade appears only as import paperwork and standards disputes firms actually face. The award is academic. It is not PE/CEng, not a generation licence, and not employment by any UN energy initiative. It is for managers who must keep lights honest when the harvest fails and the agent’s float is gone. You will compare a PAYG solar book with a mini-grid tariff dispute, including productive-use claims that collapse without spare parts. Identity-checked exams test operations memos, not inverter design. No PE or CEng stamp is issued. Study is tuition-free online aside from the examination fee, with rural last-mile cases required rather than optional colour. MSc Energy Access and Off-Grid Enterprise is taught as one award, not a list of unrelated modules. The published length is 18 months, and the credit total is 36. Students move from Energy Access as Household Cash-Flow through Energy Access as Household Cash-Flow; Solar Home Systems, Mini-Grids, and Cooking Fuels; Gender and Productive Use without Slogans; PAYG Default, Repossession Ethics, and Float; Agent Networks and Spare-Parts Logistics; Theft, Diversion, and Community Sanctions, and finish on Customer-Book Diagnosis. Each course has a question, a method, and a submission. In this field, students draw the system, name the constraint that binds it, and compare two responses. Reading is a system description, an indicator note, and a project option paper. The artefact a marker expects is a recommendation for one decision, with the evidence and the downside. The award is built so that a graduate can do the following in practice: Design a PAYG collections and default protocol Plan spare-parts and technician routing for rural clusters Write bilingual tariff and complaints text Teaching assumes the student can read a source, attempt a problem before the seminar, and revise after feedback. Attendance at live seminars is part of the design. The capstone or final course must use the methods of the earlier courses; a project that ignores them does not pass. This course does not confer a professional engineering licence. The pages for each course name the topics that are examined. Those topics are the syllabus. A brochure line is not a substitute for them.
Thirty-six credits: access markets, PAYG and agents, policy and customer protection, and an enterprise capstone. Identity-checked exams. No engineering laboratory is claimed.

Modules are assessed through a published mix of coursework, applied projects, and examinations. Exam windows are announced in advance so students in other time zones are not forced into overnight sittings. Alternative arrangements are available where documented.
