MA Peace, Security and Civil-Military Administration

Overview

Civil-military administration fails when civilians cannot read a checkpoint SOP, a DDR list is a patronage roll, and a protection meeting produces minutes nobody can fund. This MA starts with those files. You will map an oversight process, write a civilian access note, and interrogate a security-budget line—without this university claiming a military rank. African Future University is explicit: this is not staff college. Digital tools are incident logs and identity-checked study, not command-and-control systems. AU and UN missions appear only as public texts and coordination problems, never as employers or logo partners. The award is academic. It is not a commission, not a police gazette, and not a peacekeeper contract. It is for civilians who must keep an oversight file honest when the radio net is someone else’s. You will compare a parliamentary committee file with a local-government access note from a displacement site. Identity-checked exams test administrative writing, not staff-college tactics. No military commission is awarded at all. Study is tuition-free online aside from the examination fee, and displacement-site files are required rather than optional colour in every capstone. MA Peace, Security and Civil-Military Administration is taught as one award, not a list of unrelated modules. The published length is 18 months, and the credit total is 36. Each course has a question, a method, and a submission. In this field, students map one named system, write a threat model, and specify the controls that would stop the most likely path. Reading is control catalogues, incident write-ups, and a short technical standard. The artefact a marker expects is a defensive design with a test plan and a statement of residual risk. The award is built so that a graduate can do the following in practice: Map a civilian oversight or DDR administrative process Write bilingual access and protection-administration notes Interrogate security-budget theatre without claiming command Teaching assumes the student can read a source, attempt a problem before the seminar, and revise after feedback. Attendance at live seminars is part of the design. The capstone or final course must use the methods of the earlier courses; a project that ignores them does not pass.
