African Future University Convenes 55 African Union States on AfCFTA Digital Customs Integration

African Future University (Université Africaine du Futur) concluded its 2026 Pan-African Digital Trade Summit today, bringing together trade ministers, port authorities, and fintech innovators across the 55 member states of the African Union.

The conference focused on operationalizing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) through interoperable electronic certificates of origin, standardized paperless cargo manifests, and mobile-first trade finance instruments.

"Intra-African trade is the engine of sustainable industrialization," stated AFU Provost Dr. Kwame Mensah. "By providing accessible, accredited education in international trade law and digital supply chain economics, AFU trains the professionals who manage our continental trade corridors."

AFU's Master in International Trade & Corridor Logistics has enrolled students from 42 AU member states this semester.
