Master in Digital Governance & Sovereign Cybersecurity: AFU and UCAD Advance the Malabo Convention

As African nations digitize identity registers, tax collection, and electrical grids, the protection of sovereign digital assets has become an urgent national security imperative. African Future University and UCAD have introduced the dual Master in Digital Governance & Cybersecurity.

Directly aligned with the African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection (Malabo Convention), the program covers enterprise security architecture, incident response protocols, cryptographic sovereignty, and national data privacy frameworks.

"National sovereignty in the 21st century depends on whether a nation can defend its data and digital identity infrastructure from external disruption," stated the Head of Cyber Studies. "This bilingual dual Master's provides the technical defense capabilities and legal governance frameworks required by African intelligence agencies, central banks, and critical infrastructure operators."

Students conduct vulnerability assessments and develop national cyber defense simulation capstones under the joint supervision of Dakar and AFU cybersecurity faculty.
